China signed an agreement with U.S Customs on May 22 to strengthen enforcement of intellectual property rights protection, a top official from China Customs said on May 23 in Washington D.C. This has been one of the major achievements of the second Sino-US strategic economic dialogue.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner W. Ralph Basham and Mu Xinsheng, Minister of Customs for the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, signed the memorandum.
According to the memorandum, China and US customs will further cooperation in the exchange of personnel, enforcement technology, practices and data, and other information.
The official said that the customs of both countries undertook important responsibilities in IPR protection, made great successes and accumulated valuable experiences. The signing of the memorandum would strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, so that they could jointly combat fake or pirated goods and promote healthy, orderly international trade.
