The 7th BIP ASIA Forum Sees the MOU Signed between HKTDC and China’s Eastern Tech-Transfer Center
On December 7, the Business of Intellectual Property Asia (BIP Asia) Forum 2017, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Design Centre, was held in Hong Kong. Entitled “IP & Innovation: Propelling Change, Growth and Connectivity”, the BIP Asia Forum featured more than 80 heavyweight speakers and attracted over 2,500 participants.During the forum, the HKTDC signed a memorandum of understanding with National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center to forge a strategic partnership to promote IP information exchange and cooperation in Asia.
The 15th China Optical Valley International Forum on Intellectual Property to Focus on Free Trade Zone Construction and Protection of IPR
On November 1, the 15th China Optical Valley International Forum on Intellectual Property and the 2nd Yangtze River Intellectual Property Forum were held in Wuhan East Lake Hich-tech Development Zone. Government agencies and business representatives etc. attended the forum and had discussions on themes such as cross-border trade and IPR protection in the eyes of foreign investors and research on IPR protection in China’s free trade zone. As one of scholars attending opening ceremony, Gan Shaoning, deputy commissioner of the SIPO addressed that IPR has increasingly become a key element in the development of important resources and competitiveness.
The 2nd Seminar on IP Judicial Protection in Free Trade Zone Smoothly Concludes
On November 24, at the outset of the 4th anniversary of the founding of China (Shanghai) Free Trade Pilot Zone, “focusing on the Building of the Belt and Road, Services Secure Free Trade Zone Development”, the 2nd Seminar on IP Judicial Protection in free trade zone was convened in Shanghai. It was held by joint efforts of East China University of Political Science and Law, People's Court of Shanghai Pudong New Area and Shanghai Law Society. The convening of the seminar fully demonstrates that local courts attach great importance to the work on IP in China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone. Local courts should adapt themselves to meet the new demand from open-oriented development strategy and strengthen their modernization in system as well as capability in IP trial.
CAICT and WIPO Office in China Work Together to Strengthen ICT Industrial Innovation and IP Protection
On November 8, themed as Innovation, Share and Integrated Intelligence, the 6th ICT Industrial Innovation and IP Protection Conference & the 9th Series IP Class of 2017 Electronic Information Industry hosted by IP Center of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and WIPO Office in China was successfully held. Wang Zhiqin, deputy president of CAICT, Wang Weiming, deputy director of Science Department Under Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of P.R.C. and other leaders attended opening ceremony and made speeches. Over 100 experts and representatives from government ministries, telecom operators etc. carried out deep discussions about innovation and protection of network copyright, electronic data and development and promotion of laws and so on.
The National Brand IP Service Agencies “To Promote Innovative Development of Anhui” Action Carries Out Successfully
On November 2 to 3, The National Brand IP Service Agencies “To Promote Innovative Development of Anhui” Action held by State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C has been carried out in Hefei, Anhui province. Deputy director of department of planning and development of State Intellectual Property Office of P.R.C., Liu Jufang and other officials presented the launching ceremony. About 150 people from 23 brand (cultivation) service agencies, enterprises and public institutions and IP Services providers attended the event. This action includes several sections such as representations given by national brand IP Service Agencies, synergy talk to enterprises and public institutions and communications seminars with local services institutes.
Seminar on Enforcement Inspection Report of Implementing Copyright Law Held in Zhongguancun IP Cafe of “Innovation Wings”
On November 27, orgainzed by the Third Civil Division of the Supreme People's Court of P.R.C., Scholars and Enterprises Seminar on Enforcement Inspection Report of Implementing Copyright Law was held in Zhongguancun IP Cafe of “Innovation Wings” of Haidian District, Beijing Municipality. Experts and scholars such as Professor Liu Chuntian, president of China Intellectual Property Law Association and the dean of Intellectual Property Academy of Renmin University of China, and law consultants from Tencent and Jing Dong etc. all attended this seminar. Participants had a heated discussion on several issues, including the current situation, causes and solutions of “high costs of protecting right, long period of finishing a lawsuit, heavy burden of proof and low amount of compensation” etc.
China Mainland and Taiwan to Promote Development of Trade Secret Together
From November 2 to 3, 2017 Academic Forum of Trade Secret Protection Between China Mainland and Taiwan was successfully held in Beijing, China. Li Mingde, a researcher and professor in Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and vice president of IP Law Society under China Law Society and other experts attended opening ceremony and delivered speeches. 54 professional scholars and representatives from IP field put forward enormous penetrating ideas of trade secret which provide important reference value of legislation and enforcement in China mainland and Taiwan.
