On June 16, with the approval of the Supreme People's Court, PRC and Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Chongqing Intellectual Property Court was officially inaugurated and established at the Chongqing First Intermediate People's Court.

Chongqing Intellectual Property Court will have jurisdictions on the following intellectual property cases:

(1) intellectual property civil and administrative cases of first-instance involving patents, technical secrets, computer software, new plant varieties, integrated circuit layout designs, well-known trademark identification and monopoly disputes that occurred within the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality;

(2) civil and administrative cases of first-instance involving intellectual property that occurred in the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality and that are beyond the jurisdiction of the basic people's courts; and

(3) appealing cases when dissatisfied with the first-instance civil, administrative, and civil intellectual property cases tried by the People’s Court of Chongqing Liangjiang New District (Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone), and when dissatisfied with the first-instance civil, administrative, and criminal cases involving IPRs tried by the People’s Court of Yuzhong District, Chongqing City.
