On July 9, the first-instance civil judgment on the dispute over the infringement of work information network communication rights between Eisley Baker Davis Co., Ltd., Entertainment One UK Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Lizhi Network Technology Co., Ltd. was published. According to the judgment, the plaintiffs Eisley Baker Davis Co., Ltd. and Entertainment One UK Co., Ltd., jointly filed a lawsuit in the Guangzhou Internet Court, requesting the defendant Guangzhou Lizhi Network Technology Co., Ltd. to compensate the two plaintiffs for economic losses and reasonable expenses totaling 1,172,500 yuan. As producers of the cartoon "Peppa Pig", the two plaintiffs own the film's copyright. The defendant provided the public with an online broadcast service of the audio of the four seasons works of "Peppa Pig" in the mobile app "Lizhi FM" operated by him, and his behavior violated the information network dissemination rights owned by the two plaintiffs of the works involved in the case. After trial, the court found that the defendant's defense had insufficient grounds and was not accepted in this case. Combined with factors such as the type of works involved and influence in the industry, the court finally ruled the defendant compensated the two plaintiffs for economic losses and reasonable expenses totaling 78,000 yuan.
