BUFETE DURON was established in 1933. Its founder, Jorge Fidel Durón (1902-1995) Juris Doctor, Loyola University Law School in New Orleans, La.

After fourteen years of residing and working in New Orleans, Louisiana, he returned to his home city of Tegucigalpa, the Capital of Honduras, and set out to work in his profession achieving through the years thorough experience in specializing on Intellectual Property matters.

Through the 1930's, he also gained expertise in international affairs as delegation and comittee assistant in government negotiations involved in the delimitation of national boundaries with the neighboring countries of Guatemala and Nicaragua. From the time of establishing his law firm, succeeding governments called upon him for advisement on diverse duties, among them the final accord in 1960 which, as the result of his initiative during his service to the nation as Foreign Secretary in 1956-1957, brought about the settlement of the delimitation between Honduras and Nicaragua.

During World War II, he also participated in the Allied effort as Director of Strategic Materials through 1945. Among other distinguished contributions to the general welfare, he participated in the creation of local volunteer organizations such as the Red Cross of Honduras, Honduras Boy Scouts Movement, JayCees, and was also active as assistant delegate for Honduras in the creation of the United Nations and served as delegate or advisor for his country in International Law in numerous conferences. In 1948-1949 he was elected Director in Rotary International.

His law practice and standards made of BUFETE DURON the leading firm for intellectual property matters in the country, in which performance BUFETE DURON established solid and lasting relationships with patent and trademark counsel in Europe, Asia and in the Americas.

Upon his gradual retirement from active practice, he passed on to his sons the immediate management of the firm which became BUFETE DURON S . de R.L. and in which his high standards of performance and objectives are observed with dedication and professionalism. To date, a new generation of professionals, including third- generation descendants among nephews and grandchildren, has enriched the wealth of the potential with which BUFETE DURON leads the way and strengthens the traditions of service and high standards which its founder envisioned and observed during the 62 years in which he was its main inspiration.
