2021 AIPPI World Congress held online from October 15-22

2022/08/11

The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, known as AIPPI, is the world's leading non-profit association dedicated to the development and improvement of laws for the protection of intellectual property (IP).

Every year, the AlPPI World Congress provides the opportunity to learn what is happening in the global IP industry and to network with IP professionals from around the world. AlPPI has over 8,000 members from 131 countries around the globe.

During Congress week, attendees participated in special plenary sessions on Study Questions and panel sessions, and had the chance to take part in roundtable discussions on pressing IP topics.

The four Study Questions, which became AIPPI Resolutions at the end of the Congress, are:

·Inventiveness and the sufficiency of disclosure in Al inventions

·Industrial designs and the role of prior art

·Reasonable awareness in compensation for infringement of IP rights

·Registrability of trademarks against public order and morality

This year's programme highlighted cutting-edge topics in IP, such as Artificial Intelligence, EU & US case law, trademark evergreening, and many more. The keynote opening speaker was Trevor Albery, Vice President of WW Content Protection & Analytics of WarnerMedia.

On October 20, at a Special Session, the Heads of the Intellectual Property(IP) offices from Japan, the United States, Europe, China and Korea, as well as the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Daren Tang, gave speeches on "Challenges for IP Protection Post-Pandemic".

The online Congress was a success and work has already begun on the Study Questions for next year's event.
