In the year of 2000, domestic enterprises had not yet started training talents for IP management, but Foxconn’s Intellectual Property Department had recruited hundreds of patent engineers. It was this “Whampoa Military Academy” for IP that educated China’s first batch of corporate IP management personnel. Many of these engineers left Foxconn in the years since. Some have become the backbone of IP department in enterprises, well-known lawyers and experienced patent agents, while others may still yet remain insignificant.
