Team China joined the top ski league with its brand-new wax truck rolled out when the country marked 100 days until the start of the Winter Olympics on October 27.

Cross country skiing at the top level is a technical sport. Your chances of winning seriously go south if you don’t have one of those tech-wonders.

China’s first ski wax truck was jointly developed and produced by a host of Shandong province-based companies and scientific research institutes. The usable floor area of the workshop inside the vehicle body when fully expanded is about 92.5 square meters, with 6 snow board waxing stations kitted out with ventilation devices. There are also spaces for snowboard and snow wax storage and facilities for rest and warm-up, for the convenience of both waxing technicians and athletes.

Besides, the wax truck is environmentally friendly. The tractor adopts a hydrogen fuel cell power system, and a photovoltaic power generation system is installed on the top to truly achieve zero emissions and pollution. In addition, the truck also deploys advanced technologies such as face recognition and intelligent environmental monitoring with all environmentally friendly materials used for interior decoration.

Dedicated ski wax truck is a relatively new development: in 2008 then-Sweden coach and one of the all-time greats, Gunde Swan had unveiled the world’s very first semi-trailer, custom built for ski waxing. The machine was a cooperation between Svan, Scania the truck maker and the Swedish specialty builder Specialkarosser AB otherwise known as SKAB.
