Daniel Chew, UK and European Patent Attorney, and one of the profession’s top mobile and telecoms experts, has been elected as the first Asian President of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys(CIPA) at the Institute’s 140th Annual General Meeting on 2 November 2022. Daniel’s term of office will begin on 1 January 2023, succeeding current CIPA President Alasdair Poore. According to news released on the official website of CIPA, Daniel’s top priority as President will be to promote UK Patent Attorneys’ rights of representation at the Unified Patent Court, which is scheduled for launch on 1 April next year.
